Red Cross Update: Flooding in New England
Oct. 15th, 2005 02:49 pmAs I'm sure you've heard on the news, flooding in New England is horrible right now after 8 straight days of rain. You can see live flood gauges from the Army Corps of Engineers. All the red dots are rivers that are actively flooding. Not good. There's discussion of opening shelters up for possible 1000 people in Norton, MA as well as other locations in Framingham and Andover. Radar seems to be cleaning up. Hopefully this is the end of it.

Date: 2005-10-17 04:20 pm (UTC)That "river" is actually a small brook that runs through the center of the faire site. it is normally about 15 ft. wide, and anywhere from 3-4 feet under the bridge. It was all from the rain.
The faire itself was decimated. No way to open on Sunday, even though it was gorgeous weather for it. The land around the bridge was just a big sink whole, merchants were washed out, and the people were just mentally destroyed. Fortunately the faire rents the site from the town of Woodstock, and it should be repaired and ready to go for next year. The faire is down, but not out...
