I wanted to make a post that I could turn into a memory and either put it on the Lexicon or keep it for the next time we can ask Ms. Rowling more questions. Those without "Added date" notes were in the first post on 7/20/2005. Eventually these will be divided by chapter. Page numbers refer to the US Hardcover edition.

  1. What was Tonks' original Patronus? (HBP 160)
  2. What was Tonks' new Patronus? Mary Grand Pre's Chapter art for Ch. 8, "Snape Victorius" showed what looked like a wolf or large dog. Hard to tell if it was because she was mourning Sirius or expressing love for Remus. (HBP 155, 160)
  3. Jo admited the barman at the Hog's Head is Aberforth Dumbledore at the Edinburgh Book Festival. Why when Harry sees him in OotP (OotP 174, 336) and HBP (HBP 245, 641) does he not recognize him despite seeing him in the photograph of the original Order Moody shows him?
  4. What was the potion Voldemort placed in the basin containing the fake Horcrux (HBP 571-574) ? What was it doing to Dumbledore?
  5. The Inferi in "The Cave" - were they made up of Muggles? Wizards? a mix? Were they killed during the First War or the Second or both? If the 2 latter, who was placing the bodies there? Voldemort himself or a Death Eater?
  6. What did happen to Ollivander and Florean Fortescue? Does Florean do more than just ice cream? Has Ollivander been kidnapped and is he being used by the Death Eaters? (HBP Ch.6) Added 7/21/05
  7. Fred & George have been able to do magic outside of school as they are "of age". But are they qualified without their N.E.W.Ts ? The tests weren't mentioned after Ch. 9 in HBP. What does it mean that the Trio has not taken them? If Hogwarts doesn't re-open will they ever get the chance? Added 7/26/05

From what I've heard, apparently in Britain it's seen as a perfectly respectable option to quit school after your GSCEs (the Muggle equivalent of OWLs) if you plan to spend your life in a blue-collar job or some other career that doesn't require academic training. Judging from that, I guess it's the same among Wizards and Witches, so you wouldn't be seen as unqualified with just OWLs. So I guess Wizards of age who have some OWLs would be seen as qualified adult Wizards who would of course be allowed to do magic.

Besides, as far as I know there are only rules about underage sorcery, not about underqualified sorcery.
