What's your Myers-Briggs?
Jun. 23rd, 2005 08:06 pmNot a meme - we recently had a retreat at work where we took the "official" Myers-Briggs and discussed it. I am an INFJ - a "slight" I - (one point difference between an Introvert and an Extrovert), a "clear" NF, (also known as an Idealist), and a "moderate" J.
Since then I've been obsessed with people's MBTI and the degrees to which people "are" a particular "letter". It's fascinating and my iNtuitive self is incredibly intrigued at the insight it offers those whose MBTI I know.
I've already had a predisposition to this due to the prompting of my dear friend B (
bbennett). So....blame her. Anyone else play with Myers-Briggs?

Date: 2005-06-23 08:02 pm (UTC)Regarding one of your earlier posts, I recommend E-Budo for additional information, especially as it regards their Bad Budo and Baffling Budo forums, which addresses questionable/strange claims and smarmy behavior in the martial arts (mainly Japanese, but they do get a lot of the major con artists in all styles). If you see a prospective academy in there as the subject of an 87 page reaming, probably best not to go there. :)

Date: 2005-06-23 08:10 pm (UTC)Excellent! Thanks. I think I can get a discount through my MIT Health Insurance due to my :( weight with MIT's Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) - some may laugh, but it's pretty impressive. Apparently one of the Pistol hobbyists who first got involved via DAPER's offerings recently won nationals.

Date: 2005-06-25 06:22 am (UTC)I have to say, I was pretty surprised to find out my "rating" - I wanted to be an feeling person like Arabella, who is my FLO (four-letter opposite). Instead, I'm in a class with Lucy Van Pelt and Norman Schwarzkopf.
The most interesting thing about the test to me is the I/E explanations. People tend to think that if you're "talky" then you're automatically an "E" but it has to do more with your emotional well-being. And my ratings make perfect sense then. When I'm at work, I am usually charged up by talking to people (although like everyone, I do need some alone time). Being social in my "private" non-work life drains me much more, which is why I probably scored "I" in that area.
