Not a meme - we recently had a retreat at work where we took the "official" Myers-Briggs and discussed it. I am an INFJ - a "slight" I - (one point difference between an Introvert and an Extrovert), a "clear" NF, (also known as an Idealist), and a "moderate" J.

Since then I've been obsessed with people's MBTI and the degrees to which people "are" a particular "letter". It's fascinating and my iNtuitive self is incredibly intrigued at the insight it offers those whose MBTI I know.

I've already had a predisposition to this due to the prompting of my dear friend B ([livejournal.com profile] bbennett). So....blame her. Anyone else play with Myers-Briggs?

I find the Myers-Briggs stuff fascinating. I took some online test once and came out an INTJ. Although IIRC I was VERY borderline N/S.

While I think it's very interesting, I have to wonder how much of it is really applicable. Still fun to play around with, though :)

I'm a pretty clear-cut INTJ.

I thought you were an INTJ?? I mean, I can see INFP to a certian point - being one myself - but I thought you had that TJ thing going on :D

Much like [livejournal.com profile] angua9, I am a pretty clear cut INTJ. To be honest, I think that the classification system used is adequate to get a person's general predilections correct (presuming the testee is forthright), but I don't consider it to be all that insightful.

Regarding one of your earlier posts, I recommend E-Budo for additional information, especially as it regards their Bad Budo and Baffling Budo forums, which addresses questionable/strange claims and smarmy behavior in the martial arts (mainly Japanese, but they do get a lot of the major con artists in all styles). If you see a prospective academy in there as the subject of an 87 page reaming, probably best not to go there. :)

Excellent! Thanks. I think I can get a discount through my MIT Health Insurance due to my :( weight with MIT's Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) - some may laugh, but it's pretty impressive. Apparently one of the Pistol hobbyists who first got involved via DAPER's offerings recently won nationals.

ENTP, usually, though sometimes an ENFP or an ENTJ. Is that what you would have expected?

How could I be friends with BBennett and NOT know my Myers-Briggs designation. I am an I/ESTJ. I tend to score "I" on the tests that are geared towards personal/social life, and "E" on the ones geared towards the workplace.

I have to say, I was pretty surprised to find out my "rating" - I wanted to be an feeling person like Arabella, who is my FLO (four-letter opposite). Instead, I'm in a class with Lucy Van Pelt and Norman Schwarzkopf.

The most interesting thing about the test to me is the I/E explanations. People tend to think that if you're "talky" then you're automatically an "E" but it has to do more with your emotional well-being. And my ratings make perfect sense then. When I'm at work, I am usually charged up by talking to people (although like everyone, I do need some alone time). Being social in my "private" non-work life drains me much more, which is why I probably scored "I" in that area.
