I was whole heartedly disappointed to find out that today, my birthday, is the last day Bob Edwards will be hosting Morning Edition. That's like....losing Terry Gross from "Fresh Air" or Bob Siegel from "All Things Considered" - some share my views and NPR's thoughts on the matter are pathetic in my opinion. Though one wonders if it is this speech of his at the University of Kentucky that caused his "demotion".

To add insult to injury, NPR isn't even linking to Edwards' goodbye speech on the page for today's show. It was a simple and gentle goodbye from a man who's giving up the show he's been doing every day for the past 24 years. With so many years of content on-line from this man, would it hurt anybody to add one more story?

Happy birthday! Have a lovely one. (Do you generally like where in the year your birthday falls?)

Regarding "Morning Edition", I wondered that myself... it really is a shame. I think it's back to just classical music in the morning for me.

I do...yes. Usually the weather is my perfect temperatyre: Not too hot, not to cold and the world is coming back to life after the reign of Winter. This time of year always rekindles my passion for nature.
