According to two polls, Bush has a majority of the country supporting him and his action against Iraq. I find these polls HIGHLY suspect. I'd love to know who they talked to or what states they spoke to people in. I know people in California, Oregon, Texas, Maryland, New York Oklahoma and, of course, Massachusetts who are vehemently opposing what our government is doing from their pressing forward towards war to blowing off long-time, strong allies. They're NOT listening to the American people.

At one point the US was saying Iraq wasn't complying by not agreeing to allow U2 surveillance flights. Iraq conceded yesterday and now the government is saying that it's not enough - full disarmament is all we'll accept. Of course, then the US/UK goes on to attack a mobile SAM site in Iraq and Saddamn says they'll have to stop that activity if they want to have U2 flights.

More irony - the US is giving Saddam 48 hours to leave the country, but is showering the Middle East with leaflets asking the people to NOT help Saddam and his top advisors to leave.

After listening to all the back and forth, I firmly believe if we don't go to war next week, then we will before we near March, as that is when summer starts in Iraq - what we're trying to avoid. I'm continually losing faith in our government as, at home, our rights continue to be eroded - the NYPD has ceased giving out permits for protest marches, the Bush administration is pushing for a repeal of Miranda laws by the Supreme Court, a new Patriot Act has been drafted including anti-cryptography policy, the FCC tried to close its Reading Room only to reopen it quickly after protests - ALL IN THE NAME OF NATIONAL SECURITY.

And we're not just pissing off Iraq - we've thoroughly angered our NATO allies,
